Mention
the Dick Tady Orchestra (D.T.O.) in the Pittsburgh, PA
and surrounding tri-state area and you will hear most
polka fans speak highly of the musical talent that this
band possesses.
Dick joined the Kenny Kron Band in
1962, taking over as the leader in 1963. Changing the
name of the band to the Dick Tady Orchestra, they went
on to, non-flamboyantly, rack up numerous
accomplishments while performing throughout Ohio, West
Virginia, New York, New Jersey and their home state of
Pennsylvania. They've also played for the polka loving
fans in Wisconsin, Tennessee, Hawaii, Canada and the
Caribbean.
The DTO proudly carries the banner of
American-Slovenian Style polkas with class and style.
However, their musical talents are not limited to
Slovenian style polka music. They also play excellent
Croatian-Dalmatian, German, Serbian and Swiss
arrangements and specialize in tremendous sounding four
part harmonies and lyrics, not to be matched anywhere
else in the polka business. The DTO not only plays
great ethnic music, they've mastered the art of playing
all styles of American music, including Big Band,
Oldies, Country, Pop and Rock-n-Roll.
Having been
together since 1963, the band has a quite impressive
musical repertoire as well as a quite impressive
collection of awards and recognition as a band and
